Josh Gibson statue in PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, taken by me in April 2007. I love the Josh Gibson mythology, the 900 homers, the “Black Babe Ruth.” Racism took its toll on his mental state and he hit the bottle hard, leading to death by stroke at age 35. If I could see anyone play baseball, it’d be him.
